2008-05-05 15:28:40 GDFAO

Wang Yang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, met with David Cote, Chairman and CEO of Honeywell in Guangzhou on May 11, 2008.

Honeywell is a leading global 500 company in aerospace, automation and control solutions, specialty materials and transportation systems.

Wang extended his warm welcome to the visiting guests on behalf of provincial party committee and government, saying striving to develop advanced manufacturing, hi-tech and modern service industry are major means for Guangdong to speed up its industrial restructuring and upgrading.

“Guangdong will continue to improve the level of foreign direct investment utilization and intensify investment attraction from Europe and America,” Wang said.

“We will carry out cooperation and exchanges with Honeywell primarily in the areas such as energy and materials saving, petrochemical, aerospace and automobile-related production and service,” Wang said.

Cote spoke highly of the ongoing study and discussion for mind emancipation in Guangdong, saying he wishes to expand mutual cooperation for mutually beneficial and win-win outcome.

He said Honeywell’s future efforts in China will be focused on the localization of its manufacturing, R&D and purchase and increasing its R&D investment in hopes of applying the R&D results achieved in China to Europe and America, which is in line with Guangdong’s planning to accelerate its industrial restructuring and upgrading.

Vice Governor Wan Qingliang, Ge Changwei, Deputy Secretary General of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, Fu Lang, Director General of GDFAO, Liang Yaowen, Director General of Provincial Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, and Wang Yaming, Deputy Director General of Provincial Development and Reform Commission, attended the meeting.
