A 23-member friendship delegation from Japan’s Wakayama Japan China Friendship Association visited Guangdong from February 21 to 25, 2008.

    Guangdong People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (GDPAFFC) Vice Chairman Want Shitong met with the visiting guests led by Nobutada Iwahashi, Chairman of Wakayama Japan China Friendship Association, and hosted a banquet in his honor on February 22.

    Wang said GDPAFFC attaches great importance to friendly Sino-Japanese youth exchange.

    The ongoing visit is of great help to further expand Sino-Japanese people-to-people friendship, expand friendly exchanges in youth and education area, and boost the friendly relations between Guangdong and Wakayama, Wang said.

    Nobutada said 2008 marks the 30 anniversary of the signing of Sino-Japanese Peace and Friendship Treaty as well as the Year of Sino-Japanese Friendly Youth Exchange.

    Wakayama is planning to host an international chorus festival this August, Nobutada said, adding it will invite the Guangdong Experimental High School Chorus to visit Japan for exchanges in order to further tighten up mutual friend ties and enhance the friendship among all the peoples in the world.

    The visiting guests called on Guangdong Experimental High School as well as the Affiliated Elementary School of the Experimental High School, Nanhai District, Foshan, and visited some student families during their Guangdong tour.
