Yu Min meets Queensland’s guest
2007-01-10 17:36:51 GDFAO

GDFAO Deputy Director General Yu Min met with an Australian business mission headed by Peter Young, Queensland’s Gold Coast City Councilor at the GDFAO office on November 1, 2006.

Yu expressed warm welcome to the visiting guests and briefed them on Guangdong’s development, hoping that both parties would strengthen cooperation in each area, in particular the environmental protection area. Yu said Queensland investors are welcomed to participate in the environmental protection projects during the 11th Five-Year Plan in Guangdong. Yu also proposed the establishment of sister-city relationship between Gold Coast City and its Guangdong counterparts.

Young extended his appreciation to Yu for the meeting. Young also made a brief introduction on Gold Coast’s advanced technology regarding sewage disposal and waste materials utilization and gave a positive response to Yu’s proposal on sisterhood.

Guangdong and Queensland have been witnessing mutual exchange for many years. Since the signing of the Memorandum of the Friendship Agreement in 2003, mutual exchanges and cooperation are more frequent. At the end of this month, Queensland government will send its official delegation and performance group to participate in the 2006 Guangdong International Tourism and Culture Festival.
