Executive Vice Governor Tang Bingquan met with a visiting delegation headed by Ian Pearson MP, UK's Minister of State for Trade and Foreign Affairs, in provincial hall on April 5, 2006.

Both sides exchanged views on issues of common concern, reaching the consensus that there is a solid foundation for the cooperation and exchanges in the areas such as trade, economy, science and technology, tourism, education, environmental protection, etc. between Guangdong and UK, adding that there also exist immense potentials and prospects for the cooperation in intellectual property protection, biopharmaceutical, information industry, etc.

Li Miaojuan, Deputy Director General of Provincial Reform and Development Commision, Fu Lang, Deputy Director General of Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, Zhong Jianhui, Deputy Director General of Provincial Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, and UK Consul General in Guangzhou Christopher Wood also attended the meeting.
