A 89-person delegation composed of foreign consular officials from the Consulate General of Vietnam, the Philippines, the Netherlands, Singapore, Germany, Italy, etc. paid a visit to Dongguan on July 1, 2006. Leng Xiaoming, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Dongguan Committee and Executive Vice Mayor, met with the visiting guests.

Leng briefed the guests about the social and economic development as well as the foreign investment enterprises in Dongguan. Leng expressed his welcome for more foreign enterprises to invest in Dongguan, adding that Dongguan is committed in expanding international exchanges and establishing friendly relations with foreign cities. Delegation head Vo Thinh, Vietnam's Consul General in Guangzhou, spoke highly of the rapid economic development in Dongguan, adding that Dongguan's city construction has been greatly improved. Vo Thinh also extended his wishes for Dongguan's development. The delegation also visited the municipal science museum.

Reportedly, Dongguan's Municipal Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau organize foreign consular officials in Guangzhou to make annual Litchi-tasting tour to Dongguan in order to strengthen mutual links and enhance friendship. The visiting guests were deeply impressed by Dongguan and its Litchi, adding that they love Dongguan and enjoy the tour very much.
