1. Import

If there is a very serious reason to convey firearms and ammunition (including shotgun and the gun that can shoot metal bullets) into the country, the following procedures must be completed:

(1) To present the application in writing (in two copies) to the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the embassy of the sending state in China fifteen working days in advance.
(2) To apply, with the note of approval from the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for the examination of the firearm and for the permit for firearm conveyance at the Frontier Inspection Station at the port of entry. Without the permit, the firearm will not be released by the Customs.
(3) To inform, in a note, the Foreign Affairs Office of the specifications of the firearms and ammunition within fifteen days since the entry. At the same time, to apply to the Division for Entry and Exit Administration of the Public Security Bureau for registration with the note of approval from the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the permit for firearm conveyance, and completed Registration Form of Firearms held by Foreign Diplomatic Representative Establishments and Personnel in China (in two copies).

2. Export

To convey firearms and ammunition out of China, the consular post must inform, through the embassy of the sending state in China five working days in advance in a note, the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of their type, name, model, quantity and serial number. With the note in reply of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the registration form of the Public Security Bureau, it may apply to the Public Security Bureau for the permit for conveyance of firearms and ammunition. With such permit, the firearms and ammunition will be checked and released by the Customs and the Frontier Inspection Station at the port of exit.

3. Storage

Special attention must be paid to the firearms and ammunition conveyed into China with the permission of the Chinese Government. All firearms and ammunition must be stored inside the consular premises and are prohibited from carrying out of the consular post. It is not allowed to store the firearms and ammunition in any private residence or office outside the consular premises.
